Treatments for ADHD

Get Help...

It's OKAY!
Behavioral Therapy is a highly effective treatment that can be used on children. This therapy is designed to help provide a child with better self-control, self-esteem, as well as control their behavior. Parents should be trained and consult with an ADHD therapist, before helping their child. Behavioral Therapy is recommended for children ages 6 years or younger according to the CDC. As children get older than 6 years of age, or adults who have persistent ADHD conditions, medication may be necessary. Of course consulting with either a psychologist, psychiatrist, or neurologist, will be the best way to see if medication is necessary. However, studies have shown that behavioral therapy can be just as effective as medication when it comes to treating ADHD. Thus, making sure children have accessibility to therapy is important and parents are given the proper training to treat their child.
